Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of BillMyBusiness for the use of BillMyBusiness. By creating an account you accept them.

1. Who may use this

BillMyBusiness is for businesses. You must be at least 18 and, if you are signing up for an organisation, authorised to bind it. One login may hold several businesses; each is a separate account with its own books.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for what is done under your login. Tell us immediately if you think it has been compromised. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication. You may add team members; you are responsible for what they do and for the permissions you grant them.

3. Your data is yours

You keep all rights in everything you put into BillMyBusiness. You grant us only the licence we need to host, process, back up and display it in order to run the service for you, and for no other purpose. We do not use your business data to train models, to build products, or to sell to anyone.

You can take it out at any time. Your records can be exported in open formats from Reports. This continues to work if your subscription lapses or your account is restricted, because those records are ones you are legally required to keep and we will not hold them behind a payment.

4. What you must not do

  • Upload data you have no lawful right to hold or to share with us.
  • Use the service to issue false or fraudulent documents.
  • Attempt to access another business’s data, or to probe, scan or test our systems without written permission.
  • Resell or white-label the service without an agreement with us.
  • Upload malware, or anything unlawful.

If you find a security flaw, tell us at grievance@billmybusiness.in. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine issue in good faith and does not exploit it.

5. Fees, GST and renewal

  • The price shown on our pricing page is the amount charged. Where GST becomes applicable to your subscription it will be shown separately at checkout and on the tax invoice we issue you.
  • Subscriptions are paid in advance for the period you choose. They do not auto-renew. Nothing is debited without you starting a payment yourself, so there is no standing mandate on your card or account.
  • We may change prices, and will give at least 30 days’ notice before a change affects you. Your current period is never repriced.
  • Refunds are governed by our Refunds & Cancellation policy.

6. Free trial and what happens when it ends

A free trial gives you full access for the stated period. As it ends, access narrows in stages rather than stopping at a cliff — first a warning, then some features are paused, then the account becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted, and exporting your own records keeps working at every stage. Choosing a plan restores full access.

7. Accuracy, and the division of responsibility

This is the section that matters most, so it says what it means.

Software provided "As Is": While we strive for accuracy, we are not responsible or liable for any wrong calculations, arithmetic errors, or tax discrepancies caused by technical defects or software bugs. You are strictly responsible for verifying all invoices, calculations, and reports before relying on them or filing your taxes.

What you are responsible for: what you type in — rates, HSN and SAC codes, GSTINs, place of supply, whether a charge is taxable, and whether a supply is exempt or reverse-charged. These are determinations about your business that only you can make.

What neither of us can change: BillMyBusiness is software, not your accountant and not your tax adviser. It prepares returns from your data; it does not file them, and it does not tell you whether your tax position is right. Have your books reviewed by a chartered accountant. Nothing in this product is tax or legal advice.

8. Availability

We aim to keep BillMyBusiness available at all times but do not currently offer a contractual uptime guarantee. We may take the service down for maintenance and will give notice where we reasonably can. If you need a service-level commitment, ask us and we will discuss a separate agreement.

9. Liability

Data Loss: We are not responsible or liable for any loss, corruption, or unavailability of your database or business records. You are strongly encouraged to routinely export and back up your data using our export tools.

Where we are liable to you, our total liability for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for fraud, for wilful misconduct, for death or personal injury, or for any liability the Consumer Protection Act 2019 does not permit us to exclude. We say this plainly rather than hiding behind wording that would not survive being read out in court.

10. Ending the agreement

You may cancel at any time from Settings and may delete your account and data there. We may suspend or end an account for a material breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where required by law — and other than in a genuine emergency we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to put it right. In every case you keep the ability to export your data for at least 30 days after the account ends.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give notice by email or in the product before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept it. If you do not, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If something goes wrong, contact our Grievance Officer first — most things are resolved there. Nothing in this clause takes away any right you have to approach a consumer forum under the Consumer Protection Act 2019.
